the demise of Temple of Sound...

The PHYSICAL demise, that is...

I had to take my neighbor to Dove Lewis ER for a pet emergency, and took a walk around the block.
It was a 'trip down memory lane', literally! Of course, as I rounded the corner, I saw the good ol' CHEERS NW (I went to many 'DEVOTION's), and then I saw the building. It was surrounded by construction fencing and barricades! They had begun to dismantle it, and had removed all of the windows, walls and the balconies. All that remains is the roof structure and posts.

I gazed upwards,
thinking of the good times that were had under that roof,
of all the events that were held there, the decorations,
the pile of shoes at the bottom of the stairwell,
the light rope + neon wire' tunnel' up the staircase,
100% of the space bathed in blacklight and fluorescent splendor,
and all of the glowing happy people dancing in celebration.

Fond memories will remain in our hearts...
yet, Temple of Sound still lives...
within our shared VISION to it's future rebirth.

I <3 Temple of Sound!

(I took some photos with my phone, and have placed them in the tribe's album)

20 Astral Keys to Gates of Universal Consciousness

Carl Gustav Jung (1875–1961) was a Swiss psychiatrist who developed the field of analytical psychology and introduced the concept of archetypes of consciousness being "innate universal psychic dispositions that form the substrate from which the basic themes of human life emerge. Being universal and innate, their influence can be detected in the form of myths, symbols, rituals and instincts of human beings. Archetypes are components of the collective unconscious and serve to organize, direct and inform human thought and behaviour. ...archetypes heavily influence the human life cycle, propelling a neurologically hard-wired sequence which he called the stages of life. Each stage is mediated through a new set of archetypal imperatives which seek fulfillment in action."[1]

Centuries before Jung, the Maya introduced the very similar concept of Archetypes of Divine Consciousness. (According to the Maya, there are 20 of them.) Likewise, these Archetypes form the substrate from which individual Divine Consciousness emerges. Also being components of the collective unconscious, the Maya-identified Archetypes organize, direct and engender Divine thought and behavior in the human experience, in stages, over the course of days, months, years, ...millennia. Hard wired into the binary code of DNA and the human brain, these Archetypes are mediated through the permutations of an universal, binary, object oriented Code evident in and galactically broadcast by harmonic star cycles. The Maya perceived the astral Nature of the Code and embodied It in a "lunar calendar." Regarded as their Sacred Calendar, they call it the "Tzolkin." The Tzolkin enables them to track the cycles, the individual stages of the cycles [i.e. days] and the progressive effects of those intermeshed stages in order to further enable them to live in conscious alignment and synchronicity with the 20 Archetypes. According to the Maya, living in such alignment and synchronicity activates the inherent Divine Consciousness latent within the individual consciousness. Thus activated, the Divine Unconscious within can be consciously harnessed and channeled for communlal and personal well being.

Being both harmonic and binary in Nature, the Tzolkin's Code has been digitized and expressed in sound. As the stuff of our bodies comes from starlight, the acoustic expressions (of the Code's objects relative to the individual Archetypes) directly facilitate an exclusively positive rewiring of the brain, aligning and synchronizing its synapses with the dynamics of the respective Archetypes, and having a sympathetic effect advancing the activation of analogous higher functions of DNA. (Rather than needing to track the individual harmonic stages of the Archetypes as they naturally occur staggered over the course of months and larger spans of Time, as Maya clerics have done for centuries, the Archetypes' entire harmonic sequences can be heard in seconds.) Each of the Archetypes has been individually recorded (in great for meditation lengths) and embodied in "The Mayan Book of Wisdom" (a cognitive/consciousness enhancement software product from DarkMother.com).

On this Summer Solstice weekend, in the interest of fostering the planetary increase of Light, you can download an abridged version of The Mayan Book of Wisdom containing 3:00.00 excerpts of the full length (13:00.00) expressions of the 20 Archetypes. They're for you - Download them, experience them, use them; enjoy them.

For more information on the harmonic nature of the Tzolkin, visit and peruse DarkMother.com. (These Archetypes are fundamental components of all the complex Tzolkin acoustic translations embodied in company's "Ascension" series.)

The Mayan Sacred Calendar and Solar Wind

The Mayan Sacred Calendar (the Tzolkin) is said to be a graphic representation of a Logic transmitted by star harmonics that unlock doors of Universal Consciousness and interdimensional reality. If so, it ought to sound something like solar wind, right. Having translated the Tzolkin into sound, we offer you a comparison between that and actual NASA recorded solar wind.

When the Tzolkin's harmonic Logic is sequenced in the sonic register and played back at high speed, it sounds very much like solar wind recorded by the Voyager spacecraft, also played back at high speed. The primary dif being the Tzolkin is composed of only 13 harmonics and the solar wind has them all.

Check it out:

Enjoy! ;)

END.USER June 21st PDX

SNEAK PEEK!!!
www.myspace.com/enduser
More artists TBA!!!!!
In the meantime............

END.USER is one of the cornerstones of the modern eclectic electronic music. Support from BBC Radio's Mary Anne Hobbs and a list of DJs too long to fit on a one sheet, from many different genres, and releases across many platforms have built him into a juggernaut. A usually prolific artist, having recorded for Hymen, Ad Noiseam, Sublight, Cargo, and many others, he took 2007 off, working on something very special - his debut album on Ohm Resistance. Having relocated to San Francisco, a new lease on his creative power is demonstrated adroitly over the entire album. Album: left shows the most range of END.USER's album making career. Intensely personal, intensely musical, and just plain INTENSE at points, the album showcases a spectacular array of skills across the board. From radio play material ("black light") with aussie vocalist Sol Thomas, to collaborations with and remixes by influential electronic acts SCORN and COUNTERSTRIKE, to absolutely stunning, no boundaries drum n bass, the album is diverse and full of powerful compositions. Compelling from start to finish, left is the culmination of more than a year's work.

Ohm Resistance is Brooklyn's premier experimental electronic label. Loaded with power, from Scorn, to Bill Laswell's Method of Defiance, to Enduser and Submerged, the label has transformed from drum n bass 12" powerhouse to cutting edge electronic project pioneer.

Dear Friends

Thank you for your interest to our music.

Last summer we held a throat singing camp in Tuva.

We had 14 students from around the world - 8 of them were from the US, 2 from Australia
2 from Denmark, 1 from France, 1 from England.
After arriving in Tuva, the students spent 1 week in Kyzyl, the capital city.
They were able to see many tourist attractions, see a Tuvan shaman,
and attend the Naadym - National Harvest Celebration.

The students then went on to spend 1 week in the deep taiga, with members of the Tuvan throat singing group Chirgilchin,
learning various styles of throat singing, traditional Tuvan instruments, as well as the Tuvan language.

This summer, we are trying to get 2 groups to go to Tuva again, in either June or July.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Please check our photos made by Russell Roesner - our student.

The Tzolkin: Music for positive planetary consciousness and change.

Positive planetary climate change requires positive planetary consciousness change. http://www.DarkMother.com

Twenty years ago, I was sitting in my little studio in Los Angeles, CA, sequencing and recording the first acoustic translations of the Mayan Sacred Calendar, the Tzolkin, and shifting into what was being called the "Harmonic Convergence." Throughout the convergence, the acoustic translations of the Tzolkin's 20 Sacred Signs were being broadcast through my house and yard via the only radio transmission system accessible to me at the time, an el cheapo walkie talkie. Lolol... Hey, gotta do what ya gotta do and, having "coincidentally" translated the Tzolkin into sound only months before, my intention was to insure that the planet's ethereal body received both the galactic radio transmission and a local radio transmission of the [concentrated] Tzolkin's currents, simultaneously. It was the least I could do for the planet and, although I had the least of the consumer broadcasting possibilities, I got the job done. (A little leaven leavens the whole loaf.) Since that auspicious transit, the world's consciousness has followed a predicted course toward collective enlightenment, on and relative to all levels of society. Now, here we are, 20 years later, poised on the precipice of (and rapidly accelerating into) the most profound shift in planetary consciousness the world has ever experienced. Fortunately, the ancient Maya priests who foresaw this time also perceived and left us the Tzolkin as a tool to help us transit this period successfully.

Here is the fundamental value of the Tzolkin; it is a Key unlocking the Archetypal Properties embodied in cycles of the 4th dimension, Time, that enable us to ascend into higher levels of Life and being human (in the Highest sense of the word). Time is about periodicity, frequency. Basically, Consciousness, the All in all, uses Time to effect change in the 3rd, 2nd and 1st dimensions. The Tzolkin is a map of how Consciousness does so relative to the expression of specific Aspects of Itself. The Tzolkin is a table of the Logic embodying specific, cyclic Patterns of Time facilitating the expression of those Aspects through all states of manifestation via electromagnetic radiation. When those Patterns are expressed in their purest Form, i.e. electromagnetic frequency, e.g. sound or light, that expression effects a psychoactive, ethereal bridge to the 4th dimension and the Consciousness that generates, progresses and sustains all that is.

At this time, the world understands the principals of using complimentary sounds to effect brain synchronization and cognitive enhancement. Now, we understand the validity of using tone to effect remarkable physiological and psychological shifts. Furthermore, we not only accept, we embrace the mathematical plausibility of a multidimensional universe beyond the accepted 4 dimensions; length, width, height/depth and time. Today, we understand the unity of these dimensions and of all things in such a way that we can comprehend how certain harmonic patterns transmitted in the 3D expression of Life may effect links to their concurrent Life expressions in the 4D, 5D and higher realms. We understand that sound can be used to effect vibrational states whereby higher levels of perception and informations are obtained. And now, as a result of the Tzolkin acoustic translations, we are capable of taking an ordinary CD and tangibly applying dynamics of the 4th dimension to radically and positively progress individual and communal consciousness, health and vitality.

Jesus (the Christ, not Martinez) said "They that have ears to hear, let them hear." He knew not everyone was prepared to hear the enlightening Truth that Consciousness was pouring through him, nevertheless, he spoke so those who could hear It would have the opportunity to do so. I'm sure there are many people reading this who are dismissing the above as New Age delusion, at best, and that does not negate the validity of what I'm sharing, nor of my experience and the experiences of many others who have used the Tzolkin acoustic translations. At one point, we lacked the instruments to confirm we live in an heliocentric planetary system, that information can be transmitted across open air without wires, that our cells are individual microcomputers. We may not have the instruments required to validate string theory or the practical linking of our 3D experience to the vital currents of the 4th and higher dimensions using sound and/or light, however we will. Those who do or may understand and are seeking the value of the easily applied tools for personal enhancement such as the Tzolkin translations (who share this online community) deserve to hear now, and they can.

The Live Earth concerts!! Wow, speaking of hearing, the sound quality was incredible. I was online through most of the event, jumping from country to country, continent to continent. I heard a lot of great music and I heard a consistent message. The message is that we are ready to drop our individual b.s. and start making the necessary shifts in consciousness and personal responsibility necessary for planetary survival and well being. It was a motivating experience. Being motivated to directly further the positive planetary consciousness shift, I have decided to offer my company's mp3CD versions of the 4 most fundamental and dynamic Tzolkin acoustic translations at 1/2 price for 260 days, beginning July 11, (2007). The Tzolkin is a 260-day Calendar; if we're gonna do a Tzolkin music sale for the sake of raising planetary consciousness, we might as well do it for a full Calendrical cycle. (Otherwise, it's just a sale, and that's not what this is about.) The translations are among the most powerful and effective cognitive and personal enhancement tools available -- more comprehensively and enduringly effective than Hemi-Sync, Holo-Sync and other similar products -- at a very low and reasonable price for such products. Nonetheless, it's a pivotal time, and I would have DMG/DarkMother.com assist in the process of planetary ascension by making the core of our product line "Ascension" available to millions more people by simply making it more affordable.

Positive planetary climate change begins with positive planetary consciousness change. "They that have ears to hear, let them hear." Come, hear and experience Ascension @ http://www.DarkMother.com

Hey happy Sasquatch lovers.. I'm Volunteering for the Global inheritance dot orgs 'Trashed' campaign. If you know what I'm talking about I'd love to rideshare, me driving, you help pay for gas. I think you wouldn't have to pay for camping since I get that covered with the work I'm doing. I drive a Jetta TDI, so we would be paying a bit less than the usual petrol guzzling masses too, even with me using Bio Diesel. I get great mileage per gallon and I don't drive too fast keeping fuel efficiency in mind. Anyway... I need to be at the camp grounds by 9am-ish saturday morning to start working at 10am and I will be staying till sunday night or early Monday Morning depending on how we feel.

Me: Generally laid back thirty something, photographer, music producer/dj, all around artsy kinda guy, BRC lover (but not too freaky, looking anyway), I don't always utilize proper grammar in writing, I'm into pretty much any genre of music, outgoing, intelligent, young at heart, world traveler and a little goofy sometimes. Check my cheezeee ass myspace if you like, www.myspace.com/djdnile or photog web www.dnilephotography.com

You: Mid twenties, and up, unless you are a more reserved/mature early twenties, male or female or whatever, good natured, easy going, know who you are and able to be a good communicator, love music (I know, duh, why would you be going?), responsible and a positive attitude about life.

Email me or give me a call.. three zero three, five zero three, zero five nine four. It's a colorado cell-e, not a typo.

I've recently started working with a group of children in an after school program teaching them vocal toning and introducing the Tibetan and crystal bowls, drum and other instruments.

I'll be updating my website as I continue meeting with these children and invite you to check out the changes that occur with them along with photos. www.aliceviolet.com/kidz.htm

I'm devoting another page to an autistic child that has captured my heart. I'm so excited about exploring communicating through sound. As far as I know, until now, this boy has lived in his own world apart from interaction and communication. When he heard the sounds he came over to join our group and learned how to play the bowls and drums. He held my hand and looked directly into our eyes ... This was the first time he ever joined the other children in any activity.

more info: www.aliceviolet.com/autism.htm

Check back from time to time...I'll be updating these pages on a regular basis.

Fluidic expression of dimensional rhythm

Sub-culture injection.

Neurogenetic celluar consciousness. Essential fluid frequency modulation, pulses, up, down, takes you to another place. And then realize you're just very more here. Collective broadband: Half Moon Bay -- 9.18.05 -- Blasting global communication and frequency modulation.

Waves, collective forms, integrated, interconnected, surges, so vast and intricate, patterns, sacred geometry illuding into infinity. I'm flowing in these beautiful frequencies in the air, riding the waves of dimensional existence and neurogenetic celluar consciousness.

The deity of the turntables showed me in the second half of the journey the complexity and impeccable graceful expression of its growing frequency. With fire it danced, like water it flowed, out from the picture, into the air, into our souls, our beings flamed with passion and cultural interconnection, I explored the depths of my neurogenetic awareness, the very realness of the power in the moment, and the power of our collective wavelengths pulsing in harmony. I could feel every cell, every quantum particle, creating realms for us to play in, visions for us to experience, from the speakers the power remained sovereign, taking us to the next level, and here we are, integrating our journeys into present moment and collective undercurrent awareness.

I was the carrier wave, the antenna transmitting globally and harnessing the collective waves of our energy. Magical expressions all over the world, sub-cultural movements, we're here with you, riding the waves and feed the fires of expansive evolution and global communication. Like liquid, we danced, expressing our dimensional nature through our movements. Our movement inspired others to feel the Divine liquid consciousness as well, in a sea of fluidity and cutting edge deoxyneucleic acid (DNA) transformation and carrier wave encryption.

Our signatures sampled each other's energy, tasting and teasing one another in sensual revolution, when the veils and judgement all dropped, I could feel everyone's turn-on, women, men, all together, I would send my frequency out into the collective, feeling the expansiveness our of true nature. The earth would pulse with the rhythm (Gaia is with us on this one), the air would breathe, our souls touched by the precious nanoseconds, the pressure pounds, releases, takes us higher again, higher and higher we go, into hyperspace, together, one another, we drop all inherent cynicism and boundaries, free to be, we laugh to ourselves in bliss over another collective YES! connect! YES! all together now! The occasional, yes, this is VERY real.

New ways to be, deeper ways to feel. I tapped into surpressed awareness and sensation previously labeled to intense to feel, coming out of the numbness with surges of sensation and struggles of the mind. As I let go, I release once again, inside we could all feel what was going on, the powers of the undercurrent. I would hear the voice of every single person, all at once, sexual turn-on, passion, bliss, criticisms, judgements, mentally I stood at the face of these, my rapport for the mix still strong, allowing the frequencies to take us to higher levels, we connect, fly, and dance into infinity once again.

Kirtan and Chant Workshop in SLO March 10 and 11

It seems that SLO, San Luis Obispo, is beginning to open to the world of "kirtan" Sanskrit devotional chanting. I will be giving a kirtan on Sat. night, I play the harmonium and sing, and Johnee Gange, a local tabla player will accompany me. There's a possibility that Ray Tischer will come up from Santa Barbara to join us on viola. If you've never experienced the transformative and healing power of Sanksrit --- here's a chance.

Sunday, I will offer a chant workshop from 2:30 to 5:30p.m. No experience is necessary. We will chant mantras, sing bhajans (devotional songs) including Ghandi's favorite, hear a sampling of Indian devotional music from different regions. At 5:30 we'll share an Indian vegetarian dinner.

The events take place at Tridosha Healing Center, in their beautiful yoga studio --- it's got a great skylight, windows that open and lovely energy. We're offering a package for advance tickets for both events: $45 you can call Tridosha and sign up.

If you're a Temple of Sound member and come, please let me know!
Many blessings!

Devin has been an DJ, producer, turntablist, promoter and "techno activist" for almost a decade. He has headlined dozens of parties and clubnights across the Western United States (as well as internationally) and played hundreds of events in his home state of Idaho.
Trevor was influenced by the Detroit and Chicago house sounds that were so vibrant in Portland in the mid to late 90's. After a couple of years of nodding his head to beat, spending the afternoons in Portland's StarBass Records and watching the likes of Kenny Larkin, Traxx, Mike Huckaby, Staci Pullen, Doc Martin and Mark Farina work the decks for hours; Trevor knew it was time to get some of own decks. In 2000, Trevor started with two tech 12's and vestax p170a. Trevor is currently a member of Abstract Earth Project and is living in Seattle working as DJ/Promoter during the night. Over the last couple of years, Trevor has played along side with Johnny Fiasco, Justin Martin, Jazzy Eyewear, Mike Grant, Boo Williams, Hipp-E, Scud Bloom, Troydon, Gene Hunt and Brett Johnson.

For Martin Fischer aka Sonny Chiba, music is a way of life. It’s been his first love, motivation, and muse since he conned the BMG music club at age 12. This love, combined with hard work, has taken Sonny Chiba many exciting places. Last year saw him headlining in Toronto and San Francisco, and this year his sights are set on Miami for the WMC. This expansion is fueled by the support of his hometown of Seattle, where he was voted the #1 most requested DJ in 2006 by the members of Nwtekno.org. It’s with this momentum that he continues his quest to conquer the music industry, bringing a new sound that combines a solid foundation of Breaks, with a tasty mix of Hip Hop and Funk, and adding just enough Rave to keep party rocking. Watch out for Chiba Guevara as he comes to your city, where he’ll be dropping unreleased and original West Coast gems.

From garage DJ to playing local house parties while attending college in Colorado. Ben Shelton developed his skills playing a unique mix of energy and hard house with a melodic twist. Ben moved back to Seattle in 2001 and quickly familiarized himself with the local underground. He got serious about performing and stepped up to the plate. Three years later, after an awe inspiring vacation to Ibiza, Ben experienced a massive change of scenery. House music. Shortly after, he and 3 other DJ's established Subsidize and showcased some of Seattle's best house talent at "Why Not Wednesdays" at Watertown. Whether rocking Seattle's finest night clubs, or annihilating a 3 day outdoor, you will always find Ben's filthy bass lines and bright eclectic melodies commanding you to dance harder.
Leschi Lounge // Dreemworld

Jen Woolfe began her DJ career in 2001, after realizing her favorite spot on the dance floor was 2 feet away from the DJ booth, watching the hands of every Deep and Tech House DJ that came to her hometown of Seattle. Soon after she picked up Deep Dish's Global Underground, she made the move to Progressive House, a genre that succumbs to her seductive style and intimate journeys.

Jen began to play for local clubs in early 2003. She also began promotions for events of her own, making a name for herself in both the club and party scene. In 2005, she teamed up with fellow musician Mel Sky to promote one of the most successful Afterhours monthlies Seattle has seen in recent years, the Leschi Lounge. At the same time, Jen returned to her Alt-Rock roots by fusing the dance and rock genres and tinting her style with elegant Electro.

Jen's versatility with genres allows her to play any time of night at any venue, so long as its House. Her desire to bring together diverse communities under one groove has helped her to be one of the most loved and devoted DJ's in the city. Jen has played at venues across the U.S., including San Francisco, Portland, Boston, Boise, and Black Rock City, NV. She currently hosts the night Rebirth at Seattle's Heavens nightclub the third Friday of every month.

After watching the DJs battle in the movie Juice in 1992, he said to
himself, "I can do this." Sen¢e began working with local Portland
hip-hop artists in the mid-to-late 90's, and became more involved with the 'underground' movement. He soon bought himself a set of turntables and began to teach himself how to beat match and mix. By 1999, he attended his first 'rave' and grew to really love the family-oriented vibe that was associated with the scene. In 2000, he went into hiatus only to come back out two years later. With some much time on his hands, what better way to utilize that time than practice? It wasn't until the latter part of 2004 that Lance began to meet many promoters and DJs who were in love with music as he was. By 2005, Sen¢e began collaborating with local talents and even threw his first "party." Do not mistake this DJ as a one-style aficionado. His record collection reflects the versatility of his style and the uniqueness of his sounds. Creating music with records like Korean folk chants to Dr. Seuss' Turtle the Turtle interloped with some House or Trance, you can be certain of one thing -- he is one of a kind.

DJ/ performance opportunity - World Beat Wed in Eugene, OR

Hello all!

I thought I'd put this out there in a few different tribes to see what the interest is in this sort of a night. Recently I have been approached by the owners of the Taboo nightclub in Eugene, OR who are interested in having me program the Wednesday nights of their club. They have given me pretty free reign in what sort of music I would like to present and also to incorporate all sorts of different performers into the night, including fire performers and world fusion dancers.

I'm asking people in Eugene and the surrounding area (Portland, Roseburg, Bend, Ashland, and beyond?) if they would be interested in performing at, DJing at or attending a weekly wednesday night that featured world fusion music and dance performance.

Performers - I am open to all styles of world dance, and have a particular interest in Middle Eastern dance either in traditional or fusions such as tribal fusion or ATS style improv., but I would also love to work with Bhangra, African, Balinese or really whatever people would like to present that has a worldly flair.

DJs - If you are already a world music DJ, great, and if not, I'd still love to have you come and play a world-beat-inspired set. I really feel that the drive behind this night is to unite communities in recognizing that the way we groove isn't all that different no matter where in the world you come from.

If you're interested in performing or DJing at an event like this please email me at layla@djlayla.com as I am compiling a list of possible performers. If this sounds like something you'd like to attend, just give a shout out and a little encouragement. I'm excited for the opportunity, and with the help of the community, I know it could become a special place for us to groove.

Thanks in advance!
"DJ" Layla

The editor, Michael Marciano, had a session and also interviews a woman I recently worked with...The results with her arthritic feet are amazing. As I work with new illnesses I continue to be fascinated by the powerful effects of Sound Healing,

Wanna Ride? Portland to San Fran Oct 7-9 for BM Decompression

Hi, I will be driving to San Fran for Decompression 10/07 & back on Monday the 9th. If you would like a ride we can either split gas (if you have a driver's license & can drive a stick shift) or you can pick up the bulk of the gas expenditure if you can't drive. Gas will probably run 50 to 60 bucks each way (I drive a compact car so it isn't outrageous) & I DO have a CD player.

Just diggin in the memory banks and feeling joy at the memories of the Temple and all the loving goodness going on there...I know the building itself is no longer but it seems there's plenty of folks on this tribe still carrying that light in their hearts and I'm wondering what's up folks? Any reconnection and future now collaborations happening?

Exactly as my girl Irena ordered, each track and transition approved by her, this mix is deep, dark, dirty and very progressive. This mix was also VERY hard to compile, taking over 80 hours and four months. Compiling a cd with another person did make the process a long one, but it was also something we both really enjoyed. As well, this version is an edited master, my mixer is on the fritz and once I get it repaired a new unedited final mix will be posted.

TONIGHT - SPAZ, NEQUAQUAM VACUUM, and more at Nightmare Collective benefit

TONIGHT, FRIDAY 7/21
Oakland's SPAZ COLLECTIVE, Portland's NEQUAQUAM VACUUM, and just tons of other bands
at OWL PARLIAMENT
305 SE 3RD, next to Loveland, in the City Signs Building
Doors at 8, show starts at 9, absolutely no idea when we're going on but hopefully at least a little bit later than that

$5-10 sliding scale
A Benefit for The Nightmare Collective

Indeed folks.

I'm performing tonight at a benefit for The Nightmare Collective. This is going to be a gigantic blow-out show, built around a touring group of electronic musicians and disaster relief workers known as SPAZ (Semi-Permanent Autonomous Zone). These are the expatriate Lords of the Oakland warehouse scene, the collective that birthed Nightmare Collective itself, as well as The SPAZ-Port, The Mutant Festival, Circo Mutante, and an absolute shit-ton of incredible music over the past decade. I don't know exactly what they've got in store for us, but past experience would indicate some combination of banging dance-floor experimental Live PA shit, some circus, and a light dose of more ethereal electro-acoustic material. Principally, what they have to offer is a party, but a party put on by hardline wandering art freaks. Also, they wander the Earth helping out at disaster sites such as New Orleans and Bali. Some of the greatest people alive.
http://www.spaz.org

Local acts will again include my own band, Nequaquam Vacuum, playing on the roof -- a post-asiatic free improvising ensemble combining my own scrap metal percussion and glossolalia vocals with the multi-instrumental meditations of Travis McAlister, psychedelic Indian classical noise from Brian Crowl on the sitar and jumbusch, the extended flute, recorder, and violin technique of self-taught maestro Dr. Yes, and some combination of our other revolving collaborators (maybe get James Davis out there, or Rale Sidebottom, you know, Nolon Ashley or something)

AND

here comes a big black cloud (astonishing trash rock with a theremin)
silver creme (colloidal or perhaps the variety of stage make-up)
the swimmers (screwy art-punk duo)

And Again,
the spaz mutate or die tour lineup

Featuring:

spukkin faceship - http://www.myspace.com/60695115
the 486-kid - http://www.myspace.com/the486kid
IKAFEET
megabitch
jonah the mole
mc sub-0 permafrost
mc shellshock (of New Orleans)

Sat May 13, 3:27 PM ET

RIO DE JANEIRO (AFP) - Archaeologists discovered a pre-colonial astrological observatory possibly 2,000 years old in the Amazon basin near French Guiana, said a report.

"Only a society with a complex culture could have built such a monument," archaeologist Mariana Petry Cabral, of the Amapa Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (IEPA), told O Globo newspaper.

The observatory was built of 127 blocks of granite each three meters (10 feet) high and regularly placed in circles in an open field, she said.

Cabral said the site resembles a temple which could have been used as an observatory, because the blocks are positioned to mark the winter solstice. In December, the path of the sun allows rays to pass through a hole in one of the blocks, possibly to calculate agricultural activity and religious rituals.....

in my thoughts, I see the water of light, with particles that dance with the rhythm of life. I wish so that we can intend a transformation of loving water working with us to heal, educate, activate and recreate our communities. Imagine that we can work it from south to north, west to east. Connecting on a walk, the greenways and wetlands from where ever we are in the valley, forest, urban and flat. Keep on truckin' in the garden. The workload, the imagination. The group sessions that keep us movin. Peace. Natural Time. Discovery.

Greetings everyone, we are HEAR
Earth Catalyst Action Network

It is the earth and its communities of urban and rural abode
that we sting. We travel to those that are interested in hearing what it is all about, involving all those who have a stake in peace, health and well being.

We take the Time to listen, work together, organize and deliver.

Our purpose is to bridge the communities of a region, and to spread loose the seeds of change,
always for the better of our human and ecological family. We vote with our future in mind, our past in the behind, and now so that we all make a difference.

We welcome all to volunteer in the garden of life. One Love!

Reaching Out

In this time of global strife, we are all responsible. As we emerge from a collective underworld the planet heaves and shakes we are all shrouded in the darkness of voluntary ignorance. We have chosen to believe things that were not true because it perpetuated a certain idea which was popular in the group, because it made us feel safe, because it was easier than the truth. This can be no longer. Regardless of individual opinions the truth is that we are all responsible for doing what we can as of now, to improve the vibration of our community, and our planet.

This is not an abstract suggestion, this is a call to all who are in this global tribe, to act as vibrational transmitters starting now. Up until now this has been an experiment, practice. Now all of you who would be true, send out your tone; feel the feeling of living in a healthy world. Live the prayer of cultural transformation with passion. I can hear it now, the complaints of ego: "o well I already do so much.." There is enough for each "lightworker" and "healer" and seeker of "phenomenal cosmic power" to do something more for the humans around them that require assistance.

One could begin with the intention of conscious spending; in a democracy of dollars the way you spend your cash counts! One could also take some time during meditation to send love and acceptance to those whom we have denied that acceptance in the past. We can open our hearts and minds to new possibilities of forgiveness and compassion. We can dream up new ways to fule the revolution actively, daily. The time has come to awaken, arise, and respond to what is happening to the world with consciousness and healthy intention.

This is a public service announcement from the Temple of Sound, and the Global Unity Collective.

With love and Respect,

LANGUAGE OF DESTRUKTION tomorrow 11/26: Nequaquam Vacuum, Synchronicity Frequency, etc.

http://www.2gyrlz.org/calendar/ELfest05/26NOV.htm

Tomorrow night, Saturday the 26th, is The Language of Destruktion, with The Red King, Nequaquam Vacuum, Synchronicity Frequency, Cliche Au Lait, Hail and Kiss the Goat, Sati Fyre, The TV Smasher, and The Blender of Death.

Nequaquam Vacuum, playing our last Portland show for a few months, invites all attendees to bring along any items you might like to have destroyed in a musical/performance context. Anything at all, so long as you don't need us to get it back to you. Just bring your destroyables along to the show and hand them over to a member of the NV crew, and we guarantee their absolute destruction during our closing set.

Saturday 26 November
Language of Destruktion
Sabala's 4811 SE Hawthorne

Show @ 9 pm
$5 - $15 | Full Bar 21+
Mobility Device Accessible

Indeed.

In this, the penultimate evening of the Fourth Annual EnterActive Language Festival; an avenging mob of musicians, performance artists, and mechanical engineers let slip their long-suppressed nihilist urges in an explosive evening of harrowing destruction. Those of you who have pondered the deeper meaning of "EnterActive" are well-advised to attend. And to bring goggles, as there may be a bit of a mess.
FEATURING Music By:
THE RED KING, NEQUAQUAM VACUUM, and SYNCHRONICITY FREQUENCY
Performances By:
MICAH PERRY, HAIL & KISS THE GOAT, and SATI FIRE
And Engines of Destruction:
ALEX LILY'S TV SMASHER
and JONAS NASH'S BLENDER OF DEATH

The Red King is the neo-classical/black metal performance project of Johann Cleereman, also known for his participation in the highly mysterious nomadic clan Corpus Corax. The Red King combines a composer's musical precision with a deep ritual commitment to his alchemic stage process, which often leads to acts of self-mutilation and the consumption of dangerous chemicals during the course of performing his soul-bearing song cycles. My friend Scott drank a goblet of his blood once, and he couldn't stand or speak for about sixteen hours.
Nequaquam Vacuum is a free post-asiatic ensemble who usually build instruments out of scrap metal and found objects. I say "usually" because tonight they will instead be destroying scrap metal and found objects, but still musically. The Vacuum is elated to have founding member Tyler Armstrong back in the fold, having performed their last few shows with the Golden Age trio of Armstrong/McAlister/Mickens as well as members of the rotating cast who have played with the latter two since the literal disappearance of the former (it turned out he was in Turkey). Tonight's guests include Nolon Ashley, Rale Sidebottom, and multi-instrumentalist "Infamous Dangerous Psychopath".
Synchronicity Frequency is the industrial solo effort of Ryan Olsen, who this evening will be creatively DJ-ing the heaviest of metal.
CLICHE AU LAIT (PDX) is a performance Art group operated by JO CASE AND Micah Perry. Since its inception in 2000. One of their intentions is to allow viewers a transcendent experience with art not signified by static objects alone. CLICHE AU LAIT offers opportunities to intervene, predict, or participate. The resulting cooperative creation process affords participants entrance into the actual realm of the art, RATHER THAN OBSERVING SOMEONE ELSES EXPERIENCE OF ART.
Hail and Kiss the Goat present: War Pigs, excerpts from an unfinished musical.
Hail and Kiss the Goat is at the cross roads of Butoh, German industrial improv, Heavy Metal and political satire.
Short and sweet, this performance version of War Pigs is as poignant as the day Black Sabbath penned it.
Sati Fire are a ritual dance troupe headed by Tamara Yeskel and Zenia Brar, who have performed together since 2002 as part of the Pan-Zen Konspiracy Nettwyrk.
Alex Lily's TV Smasher is a large and dangerous machine designed to destroy television sets.
Jonas Nash's Blender of Death is an immense and even-more-dangerous machine built from lawnmower blades and a Volkswagen engine, dedicated to the destruction of works of art.
Ka-Boom, y'all.
WFMU's legendary Jason Forrest (aka DJ DONNA SUMMER), returning from an extended stay in Germany to show off his East Coast inspiration;
more info below...

--------------------------------

Dear community,

October 15th will mark a millstone for the ecstatic dance community in Portland! On this Saturday, we will be visited by world-renowned ecstatic dance facilitators, and international-class musicians who have come to activate and awaken us with the most extreme-cutting edge take on the ecstatic dance experience offered anywhere!

For so many of us, dance is our passion and religion. We chase after the experience, dream of our Saturday nights and summer festivals, fantasize about dance during the more mundane things in our lives.

But for something that so many of us cherish so much, it’s amazing how little we know about the subtle mechanics and nuances of dance – and how to activate it are full potential!

From attending several ecstatic dance workshops by Luna (A student of Antara), I was able to experience much more appreciation and fulfillment. It became obvious that there is so much more you can get out of the meditation of dance – with some activation and guidance from a charismatic channel and expert teacher.

The Kundalini Dance Workshop is a rare chance to study with the creator Antara here in the USA. Visit her website at: www.kundalini-dance.com/ and then sign up for her workshop. The all-day workshop is $80 to pre-register or $100 on the day of the event. It’s 10am to 5pm at the CenterRing at 5339 SE Foster!

To register: please contact Elliot at 503-475-9062

A Concept for an Urban Site for ToS

I just uploaded a couple of images of a concept that has been in my mind for a long time.

This is a site that would act as an urban predecessor of the rural ToS.

The concept is based on a two-story structure that surrounds the middle open space, 20 feet high, which is designed with convex acoustical curves to maximize sound reverberation (just wait till you vibe i such a space...). Above it a geo dome structure to bring sun, moon, and star light into the space. Endless spaceshaping possibilities depending on what event is taking place...
In an exuberant version the floor will be movable to create a small amphitheater, with a hydraulic stage rising from a basement. This mulit-use space can carry out a lot of art, education, healing, celebration. Just as I consider the main purpose of the Temple's existence to be.

The four corners serve several functional needs on the ground floor, while on the second floor are the more private spaces.

The two circular sides are a green room for performers on one side, and a fire-pit/patio/chill room on the other.

This building could sit just about in the same foot print of the old ToS in NW industrial area, though I would prefer it on the Wells Fargo lot so there is space for cars, bikes, spaceships to park. ;)

The foot print is 3,113 square feet, the year the Maya started the long count... It also serves the purpose perfectly.

This venue will have the ability to host a variety of functions offered to the public, as well as promote the music and dance.

It can probalby have up to 500 people at a time, though this level of study is yet to be carried out.

The construction aims at the highest environmental quality so we can celebrate in health and resonance with our deeper beings.

This site can also generate funds that can be used to build the self-sustaining rural ToS, where sacred geometry and geomancy will be in full effect!

Till then,

Keep dreaming. We might as well make this happen.
Monkey Puzzle and Astral Vortex team up to bring you a spectacular one night only show: MONKEY NOIR! The collective mind of these talented entities conspires to develop an unforgettable thriller sure to rattle the moral foundation of our fair city...

MONKEY NOIR brings together the PDX Burning Man families for a sexy and explosive evening of magical suspense in the tradition of early film noir movies. Our theme harkens back to the dark, muted tone of Orson Welles’ classic Touch of Evil and stylistic elements of urban corruption from John Hustons’s The Asphalt Jungle. That’s right, Doll Face. The dim moody lights and pulsing, nervous soundtrack have never before seemed so SMOKING HOT! Imaginative and unsettling, MONKEY NOIR will spark your illicit passions on a shadowy night of megalomania. It’s theater for your mind…

PLUS: Experience the mondo quadraphonic PA! Bid on sweet items by local artists in the silent auction! Big-ticket raffle items! Exotic food and beverages!

ACHTUNG! Do not be alarmed if you end up on stage under bright white lights. Everyone is a part of the show. In fact, we refuse to allow anyone to stand around and watch. Everyone plays a role!

MONKEY NOIR is a fund-raising benefit for Monkey Puzzle and the Astral Vortex theme camps. A key community project is the Mobile Groove Bomb, a converted bio-diesel bus.

Subject: Convocation Comments/Ambient Alchemy Tour/Awakening Native States

Last weekend, dub-beautiful collective hosted the Ambient Alchemy Tour, along with other live acts in San Francisco at a party called Convocation. With *all* live acts including Alex Theory, Shulman, Phutureprimitive, Bluetech, Androcell, Shen, and Alpha-7 - it was (not so) arguably the best music performed at a San Francisco event in a very_long_time. The venue was packed. (Where did all these chill-out cats come from?) Ticket price included music, water & an array of homemade vegetarian food (that never ran out). It was awesome to finally hear Shulman & Phutureprimitive live for the first time - both beautiful sets - everyone was dancing. Bluetech turned the bpms up a notch and performed his track, "Cerulean Funk" off the PsyBooty comp, "Get The Lead Out." Not that I'm biased or anything (*cough*) but the crowd went apeshit - hooting, shaking and gettin' down - at a CHILL OUT party! And, I've been a huge fan of Androcell's ever since I saw him at a party back in February – incredible live & such fun to watch perform. Deco & visuals were sweet, too. Top notch event. Props to dub-beautiful and friends who put this on... I want MORE. :)

Ambient Alchemy Tour will be in Oregon this weekend for the Awakening States event. Although it will be a great weekend in San Francisco for PRIDE events, I regret not being able to cruise up to the Northwest to be at this gathering. It looks incredible. erth from PsyBooty will be performing and I'm bummed to miss seeing him live. However, David & I look forward to seeing all of our Northwest friends at the PsyBooty release party in Portland on July 9 as well as at the Phoenix Festival! It's on!
a little about the performers........

MOCEAN WORKER (palm pictures records)
Mocean Worker, the recording alias of jazz producer Adam Dorn. Adam, a bass player and vocalist, studied at Berkley College of Music and worked extensively in the music industry as well, with artists ranging from David Sanborn to Hal Willner to Chaka Khan. Dorn's father Joel was one of the stalwart producers at Atlantic Records during the 1960s and '70s, helming sessions by John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, and numerous other jazz pioneers during that very prolific period. The Mocean Worker project came about almost by accident, the results of a series of half-serious recording sessions. After realizing the quality of the music he'd created, Dorn released his first Mocean Worker album Home Movies from the Brain Forest in 1998 on the punk label Conscience. Dorn later moved to the Island subsidiary Palm Pictures for his second, Mixed Emotional Features in 1999. Aural & Hearty was issued the following year

L'ALTRA (hefty records-CHICAGO)
is singer-guitarist Joseph Costa and singer-keyboardist Lindsay Anderson. From their hometown of Chicago IL. they have recorde a trio of albums "Music of a Sinking Occasion"(2000), "In the afternoon"(2002) and "Different Days"(2005) on the Hefty label. Their sound is a heady mix of boroque balladry and ambient electronics, simultaneously soothing and unnerving. L'Altra means literaly "the feminine other" and there could not be a more apt name for their sonic mischief.
http://www.laltra.com/

HAKEA (decibel festival-SEA)
is Matt Carthum and Matt Turpin of Seattle WA. These two wound up sharing a modest basement studio in Seattle where one's spatial DJ sound reverberated against the same walls as the other's synthprogramming. While they continue to push and pull each other in different directions, methods and goals conformed to the point that collaboration in the form of recording and performance as a single artist was the obvious path. Machining bits and pieces and compositing superstructures of sound, Hakea create a sonic pallette rich with flavor and texture

Dance tours to sacred places

Dear dancers,

For many years, participants at my dance events have asked me to organize “guided tours” of the areas of the world that I have a special interest in. I have always thought of the idea as being too difficult to put together. Well, my arm has been twisted one last time, and I have agreed to see what interest is out there for tours to sacred places with dancing, music and storytelling to accompany them.

My areas of interest are Brittany, the south of France (the land of the Da Vinci Code), Brazil and Sedona. I know a great deal about the myths, legends, cultures and ancient sites of these areas and would share that knowledge with small groups of travelers, along with lots of dancing and music making.

So, to get the ball rolling I am looking at four dates:

October 20th to October 31st 2005 - A visit to Peruibe (Per-oo-ee-vee) on the coast, just south of Sao Paulo in Brazil. Peruibe is the "Portal da Jureia" or the “Gateway to Jureia.” Jureia is one of the last unspoiled regions of the planet where the air is clear and water can be drunk straight from the streams.

December 2nd to December 9th 2005 – A visit to Sedona in Arizona. Nowhere on earth are there such spectacular rocks, and many people believe it to be a very important, sacred destination. It will be in the low 60’s in December - just the place to be in the depths of winter.

June 15th to June 26th 2006 – A visit to the foothills of the Pyrenees to tread in the footsteps of the Cathars, Knights Templar and the Troubadours. There are so many fascinating places to visit here. The centerpiece of the journey will be my Sacred Circle Dance suite “The Mill.”

June 30th to July 11th 2006 – A visit to Brittany to dance at the “Festou-Noz” or night festivals, hear the stories of Merlin and Vivenne in the ancient forest of Broceliande and to discover all the other sacred sites that make up this fascinating country.

Details and prices of all these journeys can be found at my website:
www.ancientfootsteps.net

All these adventures are only open to small groups of 12 participants, so booking is on a first-come-first-served basis. If you want to ask any questions, please email me at keltikdancer@gmail.com If you know of anyone who would be interested in these journeys, please forward this email.

From the 999 Eyes Ov Endless Dream National Affairs Desk

Greetings, my friends! We, The 999 Eyes Ov Endless Dream travelling cirkus and freakshow, have applied for a grant from the BORG2 organization, funding independent art at burning man this year - the grant money is being handed out on an electoral basis, making this a VERY IMPORTANT popularity contest for us.

It costs nothing to vote for us, but it means a nice chunk o change to us if we win, or even get close. All you have to do to sign up is go to the following website and sign up for the borg2 "BUllhorn" emailing list. Then you get your password, and keep up on the voting process which will take place before the end of the month!

It's kind of complicated - don't hesitate to ask for my guidance if you get confused.

Time is running out and we need your help on this one... to bring back the carnival sideshow and freakshow to life!!!

MASK a new ambient/chillout band - check them out!

MASK is a new collaborative project featuring acclaimed Ambient cellist/violinist/producer, Marvin Ayres, and cult icon/singer, Sonja Kristina (Curved Air).

Recording and performing experimental voice and strings Soundscapes, MASK mix extemporisation with structured songs and beats, fusing elements of Ambient/Electronica, Trance and Classical music to breathtaking and original effect..

The maxi single Healing Senses is their first release and is exclusively available via Burning Shed.

The single's three tracks possess a warm emotional ambience, flowing from the serenity of 'Free' through the spiritual voice and cello interaction of 'Lambent Spire' to the mesmerising atmospheric overtones of the title track, 'Healing Senses.'

A DVD of films made for these tracks by Coldcut collaborator and Filmic Artist Outerbongolia will be released by Burning Shed next month. More details and soundbites available from the Mask website.

FEEDBACK IS ALWAYS GREATLY APPRECIATED

Case Study of one Sound Healing and Energy Work client

Here's one of my case studies, Yahhh it works!

Case Study for Sound and Energy Work

By Alice Violet Richard aum_garden@yahoo.com

48 Male, John Neurons Dying, Failing Health,…

Case History: John came for his first visit with the following health issues:

After a 21 yr bout of Hep-C he’s been clear for 1 year but health has been continuing to worsen. Continual shaking, off-balance, dizziness, neurons dying, no taste, no smell, deaf in one ear 30-35% left in other ear. Had to give up driving, canoeing… His wife has taken care of him since their marriage 21 years ago. Janet come for a session a week after John.

Jan 3rd, First Session Results: Sound session and Energy work: Upon waking from the sound session John was almost in tears He said he felt ‘clear for the first time in 21 years’. The shaking was gone and after teaching him how to ground his balance was improved to the greatest degree he had ever felt. In his words he was more stable than six weeks of physical therapy. Slight taste and smell returning.

Jan 8th, Session Results: Sound session and Energy work: John continued to feel better than he had in years these past 5 days. Upon waking from the sound session I asked John to sit up on the massage table and to remove his hearing aid. John heard every tuning fork except the 963 hz out of his formerly deaf ear. It seems that his taste and smell have returned fully. This session was so surreal for the both of us! Balance has been much better as John practices grounding on a daily basis.

Jan 10th: Sound session and energy work: Feeling great, taught techniqes

Jan 25th: Sound session and energy work: Can now hear all tuning forks including the 963 hz, Speech has gotten much clearer. John is feeling better and shifting his attitude regarding perfectionism. Continued meditation/visualization techniques

Jan 31st: John brought his daughter Molly, taught both of them vocal toning. They really loved this and John is able to see how powerfully he can affect his own energy. He’s doing very well.

Feb 7th: John and Molly have had quite a fascinating week since they’ve been doing the vocal toning. There is a noticeable shift in both of them. John reported that he had his first seven days headache free and can now be free of the pain medication. When one started coming on he started “humming’ and it went away! He felt extremely empowered by this is he had a smile on his face during the entire session. John is a completely different fellow than a month ago! John reported that his wife has been off Prozac since our private session on Jan 10th.

Their 31 daughter Molly is coming for her own session Feb 9th.

Electribe ESX advice?

I have a new Korg electribe ESX and I'm geting a 128 MB smart card to load stuff into it. I have those midied to a Boss Dr 770 drum machine and a Yamaha DJX IIb running through a Behringer DJX 700 5-track mixer. On the way I have a Korg synth-rackmount and an Opcode midi-patchbay with like 16 channels or something. I'm also running a 1000 channel scanner through a zoom studio module and make the cops sound like aliens. That's pretty fun.

What other goodies should I load into my roadcase? I'm an ebay junkie and need direction about what other gadgets I should get. Right now all this is just to mix beats for my own parties.

All suggestions appreciated,

Swaz

Global Music Project worldwide launch on Feb 24th

Global Music Project (it's downloadable music, but the money goes to charity!) is currently gearing up for its worldwide launch on Feb 24th. In Seattle, it will be at Bada Lounge (7pm). We're also planning parties in the UK and Zambia Africa on that same day. IMPORTANT: If you know anyone in other parts of the globe that might like some exposure for their music and willing to have a launch party there, let us know.

If you're in the Seattle area, come down to the meeting this Tuesday night (Jan 4th) at 7pm at Bada Lounge. You could meet a few of our volunteers and see what we're up to! If you know anyone else that might want to check it out as well, bring them along or send them to globalmusicproject.org

Happy New Year,

Hi,
I am in dyer need of a truck....I moved out of my old place and into my new place and unfortunately I couldn't fit a couple of things in the moving van, they require the use of a truck bed. I have a box spring, metal bed frame and a small shelf....what I need is for someone to be willing to pick me up and take me to the old place, I'll load it and then you drive me back and I'll unload it. I am willing to compensate for gas and cook you a meal for you're time. Please, if you can, help. My old roommate will throw it all out if I don't pick it up by NOV. 13. I have a very flixable schedule so I can work around anything.....
Love and Light,
Danielle

If you are truly fascinated by sound and how it affects us, check out
Gregg Braden's work: Isaiah Effect
and Masuru Emoto's work: The Miracle Message of Water.
Both beautifully (and simply!) illustrate the bridge between physics, prayer, magick and vibration (sound).
It is also a reminder for those people who like to gossip and slander that the words they speak are all that they can percieve, and all that they recieve.
Let's all be as conscious as possible with our sounds.

This tribe comes with some homework!
The more we know, the more we can share.
What is in your brain is also available to the rest of the "mind field". DO your part to help reach critical mass!

Please tell ten friends to tell ten today. The Breast Cancer site
is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to
meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to
an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to
their site and click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink
window in the middle). This doesn't cost you a thing. Their
corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to
donate a mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here's the web
site! Please pass it along to 10 people you know.

Michael Moore in Eugene OR

MICHAEL MOORE'S "SLACKER UPRISING TOUR" IN EUGENE!

EVENT: The University of Oregon's Cultural Forum presents Oscar-winning filmmaker
of "Fahrenheit 9/11" and #1 bestselling author Michael Moore.
DATE/TIME: Monday, Oct. 18 at 12:00 Noon
LOCATION: Lane Event Center at the Fairgrounds, located at 13th and Monroe (Eugene OR)
TICKETS: $5.00
U of O ON-SALE:
Monday, October 11 at 9 a.m. for UO Community (with current ID) Available
through U of O Ticket Office window in the EMU, cash only (limit 4 tickets
per person)

PUBLIC ON-SALE:
On-sale to general public on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. through U of O
Ticket Office, charge by phone at (541) 346-4363 or at window in the EMU

ABOUT THE EVENT:
Moore's show will consist of his monologue, interaction with the audience,
and a few surprise guests. He will read letters he's received from soldiers
in Iraq (published in his new book, "Will They Ever Trust Us Again --
Letters from the War Zone"), offer prizes for people who register to vote,
and conduct the "world's largest karaoke sing-a-long" to John Ashcroft's
"Let the Eagle Soar." At many venues Moore will show as yet-unseen clips
from his "Fahrenheit 9/11" DVD (to be released October 5), and give everyone
present a chance to win their own "pet goat."

"It should be a lot of fun," said Moore. "Most Americans don't vote, and
it's not all that hard to understand why. So, I'd like to offer them some
incentives to give it a try, just this once. The 50% who are the non-voters
are never called by pollsters and are usually ignored by candidates. Should
just a few percentage points of the 100 million non-voters decide to show up
on November 2 -- watch out." Moore said his goal is to see that over 56%
of the voting public votes in this election -- something that has not
happened since 1968.

"It is not the wealthy and the elite who don't vote," added Moore. "The
non-voters are the poor, the disenfranchised, the single moms and young
people. I am calling for a non-voter uprising, led by thousands of campus
slackers who proudly sleep 'til noon and who believe papers are for rolling,
not reading. They are rightfully cynical, but this year their motto will be:
"Bush and Kerry Both Suck -- That's Why I'm Voting for John Kerry!"

With a number of venues already sold out, over 600,000 people are expected
to show up on his tour. Early word of Moore's tour has already sparked
protests by campus Republicans and two schools have already caved to
pressure to cancel Moore's event. "I understand why some Bush supporters
might be upset," Moore reflected. "I would be, too, if I only had a few
weeks left in power."

Catherine Matthys, Contemporary Issues Coordinator for the U of O Cultural
Forum is thrilled to be able to offer this exciting opportunity to the
community: "During one of the most politically charged elections of the
century, it's crucial for cultural icons like Michael Moore to become
involved with encouraging young people to vote."
Vote NO on 36 (Oregon)

I know I may be beating a dead horse, but now is the time
to educate and demonstrate for this measure. I'm seeing far too many Yes on 36 signs (granted I live in Beaverton), but nonetheless. As any part of the gay community or even individuals supporting our Oregon constitution please get your signs, bumper stickers or even start a discussion with those in your life. We cannot allow the Christian Coalition to use a back door initiate to pass this by the public in using Gay Marriage as their way of changing the Oregon constitution.

On a side note of course I myself being a 27 year-old Female I cannot stress enough to everyone how important it is to vote this year. Register to vote and do it. I know some people that are having ballot parties. If you are or know anyone that is 18 and older please encourage them to vote because our voices should be heard and I for one will not be silenced.

By the by if anyone has questions on who to vote for or if you are considering Bush for another term I have one word - DRAFT (this time it won't be just men)!!!

In lak'ech - love & light

Author of the Mayan Oracle and many tools for ascension is big on the temple of sound and light idea. She seems to have similiar ideas about having these established. She will be doing ceremony at a gathering in Vancouver BC soon..

The Temple of Enlightening/Women of Storm

Perhaps a chance for some local kin to further discuss this.

Also on the Sunshine Coast BC where i live we have a dismal situation with venues for all night dancing and talk of a new venue that the forest industry might be able to allocate and give resources for is in seed stage discussion. At one point something like this was being imagined with a giant soundproof dome as the design.

Would be cool to see some of you at Temple of Enlightening. Let me know if you plan to attend and we can set up something to discuss ideas.

**GoaGil & Arianne in Oregon**Redefining The Ancient Tribal Ritual**(with directions!)

Friday, September 24 2004 - Sunday, September 26 2004

All- Day and All-Night Community Dance Guided by Maha Dj and Goa Gil

Come celebrate the gift of life through sacred art and ecstatic dance. Join us as we re-discover and re-create our connection to the source of inspiration and vision. May we experience directly our true nature as open and vibrant beings to share this with the world. The oldest and most universal path to this experience is dance.
As Goa Gil says, "Since the beginning of time, humankind has used magic and dance to commune with the spirits of nature and the spirits fo the universe."
Sunset drum invocation followed by Arieane's ethno-tribal mix begins the journey. Ritual continues throughout the weekend as Gil brings future sounds that induce primal movements. We may meet demons and soar with angels; in this all-night and all-day cyber-shamanic ritual trance-dance, we shake ourselves awake and alive.

Some preparation time can be helpful for the journey. Everyone is invited to camp in the forest throughout the weekend, swim and play by the beach or in the "falls", hike up the creek or relax in the sauna. Bring food to share for the community kitchen.

Come relax, sauna and sing on Friday night. Blissful, devotional chants and dance with Jaya Lakshmi and Deva Priyo (from Lost at Last) at 10pm Friday. Saturday led yoga, kirtan, sunset drum invocation and all night dance.

who is Goa Gil?
Gil grew up in the middle fo the San Francisco music scene of the 60's. Then he left to India in 1969. Having been a musician all his life and doing intense yogic practices with gurus in the Himalayas, he tried to unite the two (music and yoga) into one benefiting this age. The result was the birth of the full moon parties that started in India and spread to other countries. Goa Gil has been constantly focusing on using the party situation as a medium to uplift the consciousness of the participants through the trance dance experience.

"We became so tantric that we even made partying a valid spiritual path. Although it really is nothing new, as every tribal group since the beginning of time has practiced this ancient ritual in order to go into trance and commune with the spirit. We have only redefined it for this age...so that there can be a direct transmission and another vision and vibration be known. Through the trance dance experience hopefully people will become more aware of themselves, their surroundings, the crossroads of humanity , and the needs of the planet... with that awareness comes understanding and compassion! That is the need of the hour and the true Goa spirit."

Synchronicity abounds

This may or may not be related to the current discussion threads on this desperately needed tribe, but after reading the last discussion thread, I felt I needed to express myself.

I am Mama Gaea, born and raised in the Portland Metropolitan Area. During the last 8 years, I have been growning and evolving under the precipices of the Pagan path. God/dess has beamed certain truths into my head that needed to be brought into existence, for if I didn't do it, it would never happen. However, recently, I have noticed many of my visions have been brought about synchronistically through other people. This tells me that I have been receiving global visions, not just local visions. Being part of the Pacific NW in this time and place has been very empowering and awe inspiring when I witness everything that has been going on.

So, more to the point. For 6 years I have been producing events to promote Pagan Pride under the auspices of Portland Pagan Pride Association. Last year, I changed the name and the scope to G.A.E.A. Project (Growth, Activism, Education, Awareness). One of our main purposes for the future would be to create an Interfaith Pagan Resource Center. However, most of our progress has been stilted at best. Now I think I know why. First off, the Pagans in this area would love to have a resource center, but none of them are interested in putting in the work to make it happen. The scope needs to change once again. And I think it coincides with what your group, and many others I am associated with or know about, are trying to accomplish.

Many tribes are working towards similar goals. Perhaps what we should be doing is put feelers out to these other groups and see if there is a way to bring our tribes together so we can reach our goals synchronistically. (Shadan, I know you are reading this :)

G.A.E.A. Project is prepared to join with the Tribes. An Interfaith Resource Center can easily be incorporated with everyone's goals. And, what I envisioned the Resource Center to be has mostly already been described as part of the Temple of Sounds goals. Shadan has created the Uhlm Shadi with similar goals. The NW Pagan Land Project also has similar goals. I wonder what other organizations out there have similar goals and I wonder how interested they would be to connect their Tribes with ours?

What do you all think?
N.E.T. Nights.....

With the premise that N.E.T. Nights features Psy-Trance music and that there are not as many people in the Portland community that have received the enlightenment that Psy-Trance can envoke, I wanted explain a little more of what N.E.T. is about....I will definately give my attention to "Community Nights" in another posting!

N.E.T., Neo-Tribal Energy Transmissions is doing its part to heal the world, one person at a time. The vibe is here, the music is here, the intention is here, and the timing is here, now.

N.E.T. Nights, on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month is giving our community the perfect place to see, hear, and feel “Good Vibrations ”personified. The goal of N.E.T. is to make Psy-Trance music and the experience of Psy-Trance more accessible to the Portland community, and to foster a family vibe in that arena of music that has such a potential for unlocking keys to the mind and soul.

You are invited to share this vision and see what we can do together to wake people up and lead them to a place of support, enlightenment and incredible dance music.

What can you do that will support receptivity and assist the germination of this seeds intentions? Envision receiving the invitation to grow in the openness of your world. Viscerally feel the possibility of your heart's dream emerging. Your true desires and dreams contain an innate intelligence that can break through even the rigidity of fixed expectations. Planting a new seed, even in the hard soil of old belief systems, can bring unexpected magic and growth.

N.E.T. is about coming together as one and creating an epicenter of vibrations that will spread outward to our community and expand outward to engulf the rest of the world. The goal is to make Love and Healing and the experience of Love and Healing more accessible to the Portland community, as a start.

N.E.T. is the vision of Pierre Lazarus aka Veritech. His vision is to create an atmosphere that is all about family, music, and dancing in a visually stimulating atmosphere. This vision is shared with many others in our community. The visual accoutrements include: live artist paintings, fabric shaping, black-light art, beautiful alters to come and worship at, ornate tapestries, on-screen visuals, fire dancers, and the most incredible laser setup you will ever see.

“It makes a huge difference when you have a lot of support and intention put into your event ”, a quote from Pierre.

So please join with us this Thursday night as N.E.T. host another fantastic night. The venue for N.E.T. Nights is at the ICM, located at 332 NE San Rafael. It is on the corner of MLK Blvd and San NE San Rafel. There is a $3 dollar donation requested to help continue expand the quality of this event.

Come as you are …you will be welcome!

We are preparing to manifest the first of our global series of nodes/temples. IN two days I will be meeting to discuss the land and its availability. What features would others like to see/feel/hear/experience in such a temple?

food and fellowship for fun and freedom

At the beginning of the crystal storm year we will be having a potluck and discussing ways that each of us can create the personal, political and social climate needed to share this vision globally.
what interests do you have that can be shared with the group? ie raw food, mayan calendar, the art of negotiation, real estate, healing, etc.

collecting our energy and naming our intention prepare us for the energy of manifestation.

naming our resources allows us to recgnize our abundance.

let's go!!
